Do I Need Anything Else?
If you’re installing yourself:
- Topsoil (if soil is pure sand or clay): $45-$65/cubic yard
- Starter fertilizer: $30-$50
- Lime (if pH is low): $15-$25/bag
- Sharp knife for cutting edges
- Lawn roller (rent: $40/day)

Tips for DIY Installation
- Prep the soil first. #1 reason DIY fails.
- Lay within 2 hours of delivery. Don’t let it sit.
- Stagger seams like bricks.
- Push edges tight. No gaps.
- Roll it flat after laying.
- Water immediately. Soak it. Then 2x a day for the first 10 days in spring and fall, 3x a day in summer.
